# Claude Code in the cloud: one machine per task

_Claude series · sheet no. 5_

## In one sentence

A cloud session runs Claude Code on a machine of its own, one per task, with your repository on a new branch: several tasks run in parallel without getting in each other's way, and the work comes back as a branch or a pull request.

## The situation: three tasks, three machines

| When you code | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| two sessions in one repository fight over files and the port | a fresh machine per task, the repository on a new branch |
| your computer goes to sleep | the cloud session keeps going |
| three problems in a small repository | three sessions started within 16 seconds, all done 87 seconds after the first started |
| a test that fails one run in four | the root cause fixed, then the suite run 40 times: 0 failures |
| a session runs into a bug outside its task | it reports it without touching it: split tasks along file boundaries |
| you want to finish the work on your machine | `claude --teleport` brings back the branch and the conversation |
| your GitHub token | stays outside the machine, behind a proxy |
| a private repository doesn't show up | install the Claude GitHub App on the account or organization that owns it |

## To try

1. Start a task in the cloud from the terminal (push your commits first).

   ```
   claude --cloud "Fix the flaky test in auth.spec.ts"
   ```
2. Bring a finished session into your terminal.

   ```
   claude --teleport
   ```
3. Or connect GitHub from the terminal with your gh token.

   ```
   /web-setup
   ```

> **The trap** Thinking that signing in with GitHub is enough. For private repositories you also need to install the Claude GitHub App on the account or organization that owns them, or they won't show up.
